About Your Therapist
Hi, Iām Lis your therapist, a certified clinical social worker in Maryland and Minnesota with over 25 years of progressive experience.
I provide supportive care to individuals and families, improving their social and psychological functioning. I have led a robust career of direct service, advocacy and program management. I have worked in a variety of non-profit organizations, private and federal hospital settings, most notably at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. I was a member of the multidisciplinary Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) teams. Regarded as a subject matter expert in palliative and hospice care, I was a resource for clients, families and well revered by physicians, nurses and support staff.
Embrace Your Truth Counseling Services, practices from a client-centered, holistic and psychodynamic approach. Areas of expertise are depression, anxiety, life transitions, death, dying, grief, loss, family conflict, imposter syndrome and low self-esteem.
Since starting my career, I have always had a passion for helping others experiencing psychosocial stressors. I have supported clients and their families in various settings. We have laughed and cried together. One thing that remains clear, I am always intentional and honest while supporting my clients. I would love to meet you and start to walk with you on your journey.

FAQs

The therapeutic process is different for everyone and individualized. We cannot provide an estimate of the number of sessions you will need for therapy to work. We will collaborate as a team to identify goals and objectives for treatment. The goals we create are called a treatment plan. We utilize your treatment plan to navigate the therapeutic process.
During the initial phase of therapy, we will work to build rapport. As the therapeutic process continues, you will become more comfortable expressing what initially led you to seek therapy.
As we move through the therapeutic process, you will experience various types of emotions. You may feel uncomfortable at times, happy, and/or sad which are all acceptable in the treatment process. Remember, you are in a safe, culturally competent, confidential space free of judgment.
